Gabe The Guardian Supporting Detroit Music Awards Foundation

Date : March 14, 2012

DETROIT (April 23, 2012) - Gabe The Guardian app, a recently released safety and security application for iPhones and Android-based phones, announced today its support of the Detroit Music Awards Foundation.

For each app purchased and downloaded from now through the Detroit Music Awards on April 27, Gabe will donate 15-percent of the proceeds to the Foundation, which supports local musicians and is the only local awards to be presented by a non-for-profit organization.

“We are proud to partner with Gabe The Guardian app to not only promote safety via our smartphones, but also support the local music scene,” said Kathy Vargo, marketing director for the Detroit Music Awards and Detroit Music Awards Foundation.

Gabe The Guardian allows users to enhance their safety by alerting contacts immediately via text and e-mail if they are in an emergency of potentially dangerous situation. The app delivers a photo, GPS information and pre-written messages to those contacts with the touch of a button.

“Musicians are often working late at night and in unfamiliar locations, so they may encounter dangerous situations more often,” said Michael Monahan, founder of Gabe The Guardian. “Our goal is to help support nonprofits, but this opportunity gives us the chance to support musicians as well.”
